The Cessna 182 Skylane is a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing light aircraft produced by Cessna Aircraft Company. First introduced in 1956 as an upgraded version of the Cessna 180, it added tricycle landing gear and became one of the best-selling general aviation aircraft in history, with over 23,000 units produced. The Skylane is widely used for private touring, flight training, and utility operations. Its combination of docile handling, useful load capacity, and relatively long range made it a benchmark aircraft in the light piston category. Production ran continuously until 1986, resumed in 1997 under Textron Aviation, and continues today. Modern variants, including the 182T, are equipped with Garmin G1000 glass cockpit avionics and a fuel-injected Continental IO-540 engine, keeping the design competitive with newer entrants in the piston aircraft market.
