Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport, named after the date marking the start of Angola's independence struggle, has served as Luanda's primary international gateway since the colonial era. Situated just a few kilometres from the city centre, it handles the bulk of Angola's air traffic, connecting the oil-rich nation to destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The airport reflects Angola's rapid post-war economic growth, operating under ongoing modernisation efforts to meet increasing passenger demand.
- Main Terminal — The single integrated terminal handles all domestic and international departures and arrivals, with separate areas for each flow.
- Metered taxis available outside the arrivals hall
- App-based ride-hailing services such as Heetch operate in Luanda
- Private hotel transfers arranged through accommodation providers
- Car rental desks available inside the terminal (Avis, Hertz, local operators)
- Minibus shared taxis (candongueiros) on nearby public routes
- Epic Sana Luanda Hotel
- Corinthia Hotel Luanda
- Hotel Presidente Luanda
- Radisson Blu Hotel Luanda
- Tropico Hotel
Food options inside the terminal are limited and tend toward basic cafeteria-style fare and snack bars, so arriving hungry with time to spare is not ideal. The surrounding Luanda city centre offers a growing restaurant scene featuring Angolan cuisine, Portuguese-influenced dishes, and international options. Visitors staying near the Ilha do Cabo or Miramar districts will find a wider variety of quality dining establishments.
- Exchange currency at authorised banks or hotel desks; street money changers are illegal and risky.
- Negotiate taxi fares firmly before entering the vehicle, as meters are not always used.
- Allow extra time for check-in and security, as queues can be lengthy during peak hours.
- Luanda traffic is notoriously congested; plan airport transfers well in advance, especially for early morning or evening flights.
