Sapelo Island Airport (08GA) is a small, private-use general aviation airstrip located on Sapelo Island, a barrier island off the coast of McIntosh County, Georgia, near the city of Darien. The airport serves as a key access point for the island, which is largely owned and managed by the State of Georgia and is home to the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve. The island has no bridge connection to the mainland, making the airport and ferry service the primary means of access. It primarily supports state, research, and limited private aircraft operations related to the island's conservation and research activities. The airstrip is modest in size and infrastructure, reflecting the island's low population and protected status. It does not offer commercial airline service or significant passenger terminal facilities.
