Enua Airport
Atiu Island, Cook Islands

Enua Airport
Remote gateway to Atiu, the Cook Islands' rugged island.
- ›Atiu Island has a population of only a few hundred residents, making Enua one of the least-trafficked airports in the Cook Islands.
- ›The airport serves as a lifeline link for islanders dependent on air transport for medical evacuations and essential supplies.
- ›Air Rarotonga is the primary and historically dominant carrier serving this route.
- ›The runway is unpaved or lightly paved, suitable only for small propeller aircraft.
- ›Atiu is sometimes called 'Enuamanu' (land of birds), and the airport name 'Enua' reflects this cultural identity.
Enua Airport serves Atiu Island, one of the Cook Islands' most pristine and least-visited destinations, known for its rugged makatea coral terrain and dense tropical forest. The small airstrip handles light inter-island aircraft connecting Atiu to Rarotonga and occasionally other Cook Islands. It plays a vital role in sustaining the island's modest tourism economy and supply chain for its roughly 500 residents.
- Enua Airport Terminal — A single compact open-air terminal building handling all arrivals and departures with basic passenger facilities.
- Pre-arranged guesthouse transfers (most common option)
- Local taxi or private vehicle hire through accommodation hosts
- Rental bicycles available through some guesthouses
- Atiu Villas
- Kia Orana Atiu Bungalows
- Atiu Island Guesthouse
The airport terminal offers no formal dining facilities, so travellers should plan accordingly before arrival or departure. Meals on Atiu are almost exclusively provided through guesthouses and small local lodges, often featuring fresh tropical produce and locally caught fish. Visitors are advised to coordinate meal arrangements directly with their accommodation hosts.
- Confirm your inter-island flight with Air Rarotonga well in advance as schedules are limited and subject to change.
- Arrange guesthouse transfers before landing as there is no public transport on the island.
- Carry sufficient Cook Islands dollars as ATM access on Atiu is extremely limited.
- Bring any essential medications or supplies from Rarotonga as shops on Atiu stock only basic goods.
