The airport is named after Rahadi Oesman, a Ketapang freedom fighter who was killed during the Indonesian National Revolution. Located approximately 2 km from Ketapang town centre, it serves as the main gateway by air to Ketapang and the surrounding region. The airport currently offers flights to Jakarta, the national capital, as well as inter-Kalimantan services to Pontianak, the provincial capital of West Kalimantan, and Pangkalan Bun in Central Kalimantan. The airport previously also served routes to Semarang, Surabaya and Yogyakarta, although this route has since been discontinued.
