Muan International Airport, located in Piseo-ri, Muan County, South Jeolla Province, opened in 2007 to serve the broader Gwangju metropolitan area and the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula. It was built to complement and eventually reduce congestion at the older Gwangju Airport, handling both domestic and select international routes. The airport plays a modest but vital role connecting the culturally rich Jeolla region to major Korean cities and select international destinations.
- Passenger Terminal — A single integrated terminal handling all domestic and international departures and arrivals with check-in, immigration, and retail facilities.
- Taxi services available at the arrivals exit for direct travel to Muan, Mokpo, and Gwangju
- Airport limousine and intercity buses connecting to Gwangju, Mokpo, and Naju
- Car rental desks available inside the terminal from major Korean providers

- Muan Tourist Hotel
- Mokpo Utop Hotel (Mokpo city, approx. 20 km)
- Hotel Hyundai Mokpo
- Gwangju Shinyang Park Hotel (Gwangju, approx. 50 km)
Inside the terminal, food options are limited to a small selection of Korean snack bars, cafés, and convenience-style eateries reflecting local flavors. Outside the airport, the Muan and Mokpo areas are renowned for fresh seafood, including hairtail fish and octopus dishes best sampled at local restaurants in Mokpo city. Travelers are advised to eat before arriving or plan a meal stop en route to their final destination.
- Book taxis or transfers in advance as cab availability can be limited during off-peak hours
- The airport is closer to Mokpo than Gwangju, so consider Mokpo as a base for exploring South Jeolla
- Arrive early for international flights as the terminal is small and check-in queues can form quickly
- Muan is famous for its lotus flowers — visit Muan Lotus Festival in summer if your schedule allows
