Qaanaaq Airport serves the remote settlement of Qaanaaq in northwestern Greenland, one of the northernmost permanently inhabited places on Earth. Established to support this isolated Inuit community and occasional scientific expeditions, the airport operates under extreme Arctic conditions with limited infrastructure. It plays a vital logistical role connecting Qaanaaq to the broader Greenlandic transport network.
- Main Terminal — A small, single-room facility handling all arrivals, departures, and basic passenger processing for this remote Arctic outpost.
- Taxi or local vehicle arranged through accommodation
- Walking into Qaanaaq settlement (short distance)
- Snowmobile transport in winter months
- Hotel Qaanaaq
- Guesthouse accommodations arranged through local municipality
The airport terminal offers virtually no dining facilities given its minimal size. Visitors are advised to make arrangements through their accommodation in Qaanaaq town, where basic meals featuring local Arctic cuisine including seal and fish can be found.
- Book flights well in advance as Air Greenland operates limited and weather-dependent schedules to Qaanaaq.
- Dress in extreme cold-weather layers year-round; temperatures can be dangerously low even in summer.
- Carry sufficient cash and supplies as ATMs and shops in Qaanaaq are extremely limited.
- Check flight status frequently as Arctic weather can cause sudden cancellations or diversions.

Qaanaaq Airport is an airport located 1.9 NM northwest of Qaanaaq, a settlement in the Avannaata municipality in northern Greenland. It was established in 2001 to serve Qaanaaq and neighboring communities because Thule Air Base in Pituffik is not open for regular passenger traffic. It is the only civilian airport north of Upernavik and is a lifeline for northern Greenland. Fresh food and other consumer products are transported by air.
