Cyril E. King Airport, named after the first elected governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, serves as the primary air gateway to St. Thomas and the surrounding U.S. Virgin Islands. Situated on the western end of St. Thomas, the airport handles a mix of mainline carriers, regional flights, and seasonal charter traffic feeding the island's robust tourism economy. Its single runway extending toward the sea and compact terminal reflect the intimate scale of island aviation.
- Main Terminal — A single consolidated terminal handling all commercial arrivals and departures, with separate domestic and international processing areas.
- Taxi vans (shared and private) available curbside outside arrivals
- Car rental agencies including Avis, Budget, and local operators on-site
- Hotel shuttle services operated by major resort properties
- Public safari buses (open-air trucks) serving Charlotte Amalie and beyond
- Marriott Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort
- The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas
- Bolongo Bay Beach Resort
- Secret Harbour Beach Resort
- Windward Passage Hotel (Charlotte Amalie)
The terminal offers limited but functional dining with a café and snack options airside for departing passengers. Charlotte Amalie, a short taxi ride away, provides a far wider selection of Caribbean and international restaurants along the waterfront. Travelers with time before departure are encouraged to eat in town, as airside options are basic.
- Taxis in St. Thomas are typically shared vans with fixed zone-based fares — confirm the rate before boarding.
- Traffic in Charlotte Amalie can be slow during cruise ship days; allow extra time reaching the airport.
- Driving is on the left in the U.S. Virgin Islands despite using U.S.-standard vehicles — plan accordingly if renting a car.
- Arrive at least 90 minutes before departure; the airport is small but security lines can build quickly during peak tourist season.
