Kobe Airport, known locally as Marine Air, opened in 2006 on a man-made island in Osaka Bay, making it one of Japan's youngest commercial airports. It serves primarily domestic routes operated by ANA and Skymark, complementing the busier Osaka Itami and Kansai International airports in the region. Its compact, efficient design and stunning waterfront location make it a relaxed alternative gateway to the Hanshin region.
- Terminal 1 — The airport's sole passenger terminal, handling all domestic flights with a clean, modern layout and bay views.
- Port Liner automated people mover connecting to Sannomiya Station (approx. 18 minutes)
- Limousine bus services to Osaka Umeda, Namba, and Kansai International Airport
- Taxi and ride-hail services available at the terminal exit
- Car rental counters located within the terminal building
- High-speed ferry services connecting Kobe Airport Island to Kansai International Airport
- Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel
- ANA Crowne Plaza Kobe
- Hotel Monterey Amalie Osaka (accessible via Port Liner)
- Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kobe-Sannomiya
- Remm Shin-Kobe
Inside the terminal, travellers will find a modest but pleasant selection of Japanese restaurants, cafés, and convenience store options reflecting local Kobe cuisine influences, including beef dishes. The Portopia Island area near the airport has additional dining, and the vibrant Sannomiya district just 18 minutes away by Port Liner offers Kobe's full range of restaurants, bakeries, and internationally influenced cuisine.
- Buy a Port Liner IC card or use Suica/ICOCA for seamless transit between the airport and Sannomiya Station.
- Arrive early as the terminal is small and security lines can move slowly during morning rush hours.
- The ferry connection to Kansai International Airport is a scenic and practical option if you have an onward international flight.
- Check in luggage early if using Skymark — their check-in counters can get busy on weekend leisure travel days.
